AR-TI-FACT OAK-005: Zemí

Story:

Ah, my friend! You have the fortune to witness a truly exceptional piece of history from the lost city. This particular artifact is one the greatest finds from the lost expedition. Before your very eyes, is the Zemí (Cemi). It’s believed that the ancient race of the lost city was matrilineal and traced their ancestry through the female line and similar Zemí were passed down from generation to generation. Similar artifacts were believed to connect the wearer to an immaterial, spiritual, and vital force pertaining to their deities and their ancestors. Notice the three points of the artifact. Could this particular Zemí reference a nearby mountain range where few have scaled? The left-hand side of the piece refers to a beast which could represent a high-ranking warrior of this ancient race. The top of the piece resembles a conch shell. Perhaps a symbol of protection, guarding against evil forces for the wearer? The far side is believed to be a rooster representing a new dawn and an awakening. Opposite of you, the running snail could be referring to distant galaxies. Lastly, this is not the first time we have seen the symbol of the serpent and it could be symbolizing a large body of water and strength. Other explorers believe that it has mystical powers, capable of revealing hidden truths and guiding the wearer toward enlightenment.
